Little Boy
If I saw you then I’d cradle you
and tell you it’s ok
If I heard you then I’d comfort you
And wipe your tears away
If I knew you then I’d tell you
That whatever you choose is right
If I could I’d have offered up my hand
For you to hold at night
If you saw me now would you be angry
For all the things you couldn’t say
And if I listened now do you wish
That all the pain would melt away
You built a wall around you
Like a fortress for your heart
Disconnected lonely scared
A place so fearful and so dark
And in that place you sat
Where no-one heard your cries
Suffering in silence
As time passed slowly by
Love circled all around you
But through your pain you couldn’t see
Biting like a rabid dog
At the caring hands that feed
Do you see me now beside you?
Do you hear me call your name?
Do you know that I love you?
Do you know we are the same?
I’m standing here before you
Offering up my hand
The little boy who took it
Has now become a man
