Being part of the BBC Upstaged show inspired this etching. The excitement of the countdown to going in the show was sending my creativity into overdrive.  On the 22nd February I couldn’t sleep as ideas flew round my head and I found myself putting pen to paper, doodling if you like. That’s when I came up with the idea of challenging YOU, the viewer. Having spoken to friends it was said that the picture was distorted so I decided to display it. I love creating an illusion and encouraging individuals to look deeper into things... sometimes things are not what they seem on first glance.

When I created this picture we were that little Sprout... we hadn’t yet felt the energy or the message that is within it, all but the ‘sprout’ was my imagination.  Now 5th March 2008 we have had the experience...  it is my REALITY!

IT WAS ALL THAT I HAD IMAGINED!

The words from the song STIMULATION

STIMULATION

I’m angry, fed up, tired and frustrated

This scene that I’m in is so overrated

The way that you look, what you wear, how’s your hair

And of course what you’ve got going on down there

In the bars and the clubs, it’s always the same

Look them up and down as if they don’t have a name

Checking out the size of his chest and his packet

Making sure he’s got a D&G on his jacket

The only thing here going on that is bent

Is throwing up all your hard earnt cash you’ve just spent

Does anyone notice, do you see what I see

Do we no longer acknowledge personality

A decent conversation is what I am yearning

I don’t want to look over and see someone who’s gurning

Looking at me like he don’t know where he’s at

I’m tired of this bullshit, I don’t need all this crap

So you can take all your powders, liquids and pills

Coz they do nothing for me, they no longer thrill

Doing the same thing week after week

How much do you need to get high till you tweak

Spending all week in the gym getting ripped

Then O.D on G and your body has a fit

Wake up, look around and you don’t recognise the place

Or the person staring back at you, no expression on his face

One minute you’re fine, the next it’s all blackened

You try and you try but can’t recall what’s just happened

How scary is that it’s really insane

So you do another hit just to numb the pain

It’s like a soap opera, should be listed under fiction

But in reality it’s just one big contradiction

I’ve got to get out, I need to awaken

I need something new, I need stimulation.

Verse 2

I’m not saying it’s easy to turn your life around

Pick yourself up get your head above ground

Out of the darkness and into the light

Tossing and turning coz you can’t sleep at night

Negative thinking open wounds of emotions

Wishing they could be swallowed up by an ocean

Peeling away the old layers of your life

Uncovering the truth but what you see you don’t like

Day turns to night and night turns to day

Searching for something that you lost on the way

No-one understands you – you think no-one ever will

Damn it would be easy just to reach for that pill

Trying to avoid the void of distraction

Nothing that you see stimulates the attraction

But you keep on going and don’t know why

Somewhere deep down you hear  a voice cry

And as you follow it down through the dark and the dust

The only thing beside you now is your trust

Standing alone – unfamiliar place

With your inner child you come face to face

You want to escape you want to be free

Just don’t let me have to see what I see

No-where to hide, no-where to run to

The truth is reflected what’s staring back at you

Look it’s fantastic this person that you’ve found

Buried so deep like a jewel in life’s crown

I need to wake up – I’ve had too much rest

It’s time to put what I’ve just learnt to the test

Take a deep breath as I open the door

All these chains that I held I don’t need them no more

I’m glad I got out – glad to awaken

Coz inside of me was where I found my creation
