As the book will be on sale VERY soon we decided to give you an idea of the concept of Drawn Words and Written Pictures by revealing our explanation of...

Soul Song.

The writers view

I wrote this poem back in 1998 when I was having voice classes with my teacher Natticia Satie in New York, who has now become a close friend. Before each class she would set up a tape recorder and get me to move around the room, freeing up all my voice, making noises, connecting with my higher self and just saying whatever came into my head... I guess you could say this one was channeled. I got home and played the tape back, wrote down the words and put them to music.

This was the first painting that Tracey showed me, it was extremely nerve racking waiting for the unveiling... what if I didn't like it? what if she had portrayed the poem in the wrong way? I realised when I saw my thought illustrated through pictures how exciting this project was and how the images seemed to map out my soul's path... life really!

This was the first time I had really bared my soul and allowed someone in. I cried when I saw the painting, it was beautiful.

You have to let go and allow your inner self to be seen sometimes.

Framed Soul Song02

The Artist’s View

Soul Song was the first painting to be created, along with the music (at present in production) instantly the vision came to me, almost like a visual map of a souls journey through life. A painting that anyone can relate to. You can find yourself anywhere in this picture... my journey began in that deep, dark and raging sea, without a life jacket!! Through professional guidance and help, and MYSELF, I am the other side of the mirror on that beautiful golden beach, a place that few visit, however well worth the trip.

Richard was struggling to ‘let go of his chains’ ie Cookie/the material world. Now he is on the beach with me, however ironically, and those that know him will laugh at this!! he has to keep popping back in front of the mirror! On a serious note though, this is because he is still getting to know his new self...his words ‘I am a man’ eventually it will be ‘I am who I am’...me. Sometimes I have to put him in front of the mirror, so he can remind himself who he is as being on that beautiful sunny beach distracts him from his needs.

Where are you in the painting?

If you are troubled and struggling to keep afloat of life’s ups and downs, you may be drawn to that raging sea. The hand symbolises the guiding hand, the acceptance of help from oneself and others thus fuelling your energy to take that step through the waterfall. Stepping through the waterfall is the cleansing of the soul, celebrating the freedom you feel from the baggage that is now disappearing behind you, being swallowed up by those dark waves.

The time you spend in front of the mirror is vital, it is the ‘getting to know you’ stage, questions and decisions, you now have the confidence to choose your path and the energy to fulfil your DREAMS. Finally you will find yourself on that beach of tranquillity, this feeling is enigmatic, however one experience getting there is proof that the feeling exists.

This painting I feel can be used as a tool, visually and emotionally engaging with the onlooker, a path can be mapped out.

Again I ask

Where are you in the painting? Are you happy where you are? Where would you like to be?

Answer... you can be anywhere? you are an individual with choices, only others influences can divert you from your path. To choose your path you have to know what YOU want and the energy, knowledge and wisdom to work towards it.

Carry on your journey through our book for guidance from a couple of souls that have taken that journey, and wish to guide others, for it is a wonderful feeling to know and be in control of ones own destiny...it is rich and beautiful to share it.

I thought I had lived.....until I found me.. now I am Living!
