Ask
You ask me why, when how or what
You ask me questions to which I know not
You ask what you know the answer to be
But don’t want to act for fear of reprieve
You ask if I’m listening, you ask when will I reply?
Does the sun set each night and by day burn the sky?
You ask such simplicity which to you holds much depth
You ask constant questions until there’s nothing left
You ask, you ask, drowning out what I cry
‘Why not ask yourself?’ that is my reply
