The first two paintings are from my personal collection

Healing Hands

framed healing hands acrylic

The original etching of this painting was created in 1996. At that time it felt like my soul had died.  I was searching for inner strength.

I took this painting to an art therapy session and was mortified to be told it resembled, her words...

‘a vagina’! i.e the kidneys being the fallopian tubes.

The ironic thing is, her meaning was, it related to ‘birth’ and ‘rejection’. Look at all that nasty gooey gunk that is oozing from that area, it needed clearing.

At the beginning of 2003 I would say finally I had found my inner self and was content with what I had found. This is reflected in this painting when it was brought to life on canvas in 2004.

Awakened Soul

The first pencil etching of this painting was August 2003.

It emulates a soul that has been rekindled, the past dealt with and boxed away.

The heart oozes around the box, yet the box will always remain closed, providing protection.

You almost want to catch that drop just about to slip through the fingers.

If you feel that… then you are ‘fueling’ that flaming heart.

All this energy keeping the ‘spirit’ of the ‘soul’ awake…..

If we now relate these pictures to my bio, we see that subconsciously I knew the answers to what I had to do in 1996 - find my inner strength, seek guidance and help (Healing Hands).  I did not heed my inner self! I ran away at first (Tenerife) then came crashing back and begged for ‘guidance’! Which I got. The main benefit I got from this help over three years, was learning how to control my emotions and accepting the things that I had no power over to change... rejection.

Changing the negative mind into a positive one, now I expect rejection, so everything else is a bonus.  Awakened Soul emulates my soul accepting all the past, which has given me so much strength for the future.

I’m sure some can relate to these paintings and the ones in our Gallery

I know some can be guided by them.

The Consultation Room

Private Commission - The Consultation Room

Acrylic on canvas 126cm x 124cm

Commission to Dr Roy Shuttleworth, Harley Street, Psychologist.

Dr Shuttleworth wanted a painting of his consultation room emulating the nature of his profession in a surreal way.

When creating this piece I wanted to show the energy passed between the ‘listener’ and the troubled soul. You see a ‘normal’ office, the cluttered table gives you that feeling of ‘normality’…. The energy flows through the window, the ‘listening’ chair absorbing, then flowing over to make a connection with the closed soul.

With nurturing, trust and time, the soul and its energy disappears into the distance, clearly moving forward on its journey. This painting, can be to some, a visual tool for communication and understanding.

Private Commission - Surreal Portrait

This acrylic on canvas surreal portrait was done as a surprise for a friends birthday, from their partner.

I think they were surprised too, seeing their head, green and detached from their body!

I have enhanced the picture with photoimpact enhancements.

BAND

This band was formed in the year 2000, I found a friend who was as passionate about art as I was. Her specialty was ceramics and she rented a small workshop which she was kind enough to share with me. Through watching her I learnt a few techniques in creating with clay and this band was my first creation. When I say creation, the waiting time when the pieces are in the kiln, is like waiting for a birth! You open that lid and you hope to find all your ‘babies’ in tact... however... as you see by the electric guitarist on the right, there was a casualty. Unfortunately another casualty was, ‘Big Mo--ma’ (the lead singer) she lost half her body! I did try and fix her with decorators caulk! but she was never the same.  The guitarist lost his leg, however, a quick dash to the backyard, to find a stick for a leg, some glue and 3 days drying time he was in the band.

These characters stand at approximately 8 ins high

I would like to do a full orchestra one day and a few more bands.
